Plenty of iPod docks and speaker systems sound great. But are they environmentally friendly and cool-looking as well? They are if they’re the Vers Audio 1.5.
This tidy little 8″x7″x6″ box packs in a digital AM/FM tuner, a 15w speaker with rear bass porting, and an iPod dock as well as a 3.5mm mini-jack connection. It even offers an alarm clock feature so you can wake up to your music, and includes a remote control to use all this niftiness from across the room.
But what about its environmental cred? Vers Audio only uses plentiful, non-threatened source woods for its components, and through an Arbor Day Foundation partnership, they plant 100 new trees for every one they use. Vers also utilizes Class D amplifiers in their components, which don’t draw power when not in use (translation: listening to your music requires less than half the power of a 60w light bulb).
Finally, the Vers Audio 1.5 is designed to be disassembled for repairs (lengthening its lifespan) and eventual recycling. And other aspects of manufacturing such as product packaging are also streamlined as much as possible.
