Cork countertops are both eco-friendly and stylish. So what if you could enjoy a cork countertop without the waste and expense of removing your old counter? SoyTuf has the solution, a do-it-yourself cork countertop refinishing system called ReCork.
When it’s time for a kitchen remodel, refinishing cabinets instead of replacing them has become a popular way to save money and eliminate a great deal of waste. But most homeowners wouldn’t think to try giving their old, outdated countertops a facelift.
The ReCork system uses granulated cork (recycled waste from industrial cork production) and soy-based low-VOC sealants. How does it work? After preparing the surface simply add a coat of epoxy then apply an even layer of the granulated cork material. After vacuuming away excess granules, apply a layer of the clear finish coat to form a seal. The countertop can then be sanded and re-sealed if needed to achieve the desired finish.
According to the manufacturer, a ReCork countertop is usable in six hours and fully cured in 48 hours. Learn more or find a distributor at the SouTuf website: http://www.soytuf.com/cork
