As discussed in a recent article, we’re excited for the much-anticipated release of the innovative Switch LED light bulb. But with those bulbs still a couple months away from widespread public release, we’re intrigued by a another solid competitor in the screw-in LED bulb category: the Warm White LED bulb from G7 Power.
Casting a very respectable 900 lumens of light, the G7 bulb is comparable to a 60-watt incandescent bulb in a lamp, or a 75-watt bulb in a downward-facing application like a ceiling light. A standard 60-watt bulb casts around 850 lumens of light, while the diodes within the G7 bulb are somewhat directional (casting the most light from the top of the bulb).
The G7 bulb throws a warm white light, with a 3,000K color temperature and a color rendering index of 75+. It utilizes extremely efficient Samsung diodes that produce 100 lumens of light per watt. This particular bulb should not be used in dimmable fuxtures, but it offers a lifetime warranty under normal use and should pay for itself within 12 months.
