Hardwood decking is both beautiful and extremely durable. Unfortunately, many hardwoods aren’t the greenest building materials. But Eco Arbor tiles are a clever solution that are economical, easy to install, and easy on the environment.
The tiles are available in various sizes and wood species, including high-end varieties like Ipe. The planks are fixed to a polypropylene backing frame that allows for simple snap-together assembly (no hardware or adhesives needed). They are lightweight and safe to use on roof membranes and balconies as well as solid ground surfaces.
Best of all, the Eco Arbor deck tiles are sustainable in a couple ways. First of all, the wood comes from either FSC-certified or reclaimed/remnant sources. A deck built from these modular tiles also uses far less lumber than traditional hardwood to achieve the same coverage. Eco Arbor tiles use roughly half the amount of wood, since the backing frame provides much of the overall thickness. And precise sizing means substantially reduced construction waste (which can top 20% for a traditional timber deck).
