Luxury vinyl tile flooring is attractive, affordable, and extremely durable. But what if it could provide the cushion and insulation of eco-friendly cork flooring as well, and it required far less surface preparation for a quicker installation? That’s the idea behind Vinacork, an ingenious hybrid flooring system from US Floors.
The top layer is LVT, and Vinacork is available in several wood and stone patterns (including oak, cherry, pine, slate, and travertine). It sits atop a middle layer of cork, which provides excellent resilience and sound insulation. The core of each interlocking plank is made of high density fiberboard (HDF) that has been treated for moisture resistance. Finally, an additional layer of cork underlayment is attached to the base of each plank, so no additional underlayment is required.
The glueless CorkLoc assembly requires no adhesive, and having a resilient underlayment already attached means minimal preparation is needed for the subfloor before installation. Indoor air quality is also maintained since no adhesives are used.
Vinacork is extremely economical in terms of overall project costs. Installation time is minimized, and there is no need to purchase underlayment and glue supplies. Vinacork is also long lasting, since its LVT top layer is not prone to chips or dents like standard laminate floors.
Vinacork woodgrain planks measure 5 1/2″ wide x 48 1/32″ long, with 14.7 sq. ft. per carton. Stone textures come in larger planks measuring 17 1/2″ wide x 23 13/16″ long (23.19 sq. ft. per carton). They are available directly from Amazon, or you can visit the US Floors website to find a distributor near you.
