Want to harness all that solar energy shining on your roof, but you’re not crazy about the space-age look of a massive PV panel rack? No problem. Apollo Solar Roofing uses lightweight, roof-integrated modules so a photovoltaic array becomes a subtle part of your roof.
Apollo solar roof shingles are produced by CertainTeed, a Pennsylvania-based building materials supplier. They come in two styles, Apollo Solar Roofing and Apollo Solar Tiles. Both are thin and lightweight, so there is no need for a rack or structural reinforcement. The Apollo system can be added to existing roofs as well as integrated into new roofs, and it doesn’t need to be installed on top of shingles – it is the roof.
The Apollo solar panels perform just as well as traditional systems, producing 12 watts per square foot. They’re Class A Fire-rated, and also very durable (rated to withstand high winds and snow loads up to 250 lbs. per square foot)
The Apollo photovoltaic panels carry a 25-year power generation warranty, and depending on various rebates and credits, they can pay for themselves in as little as 4 years. They can also add credits toward LEED certification.
