Produced in Finland, Durat is a polyester-based material for recycled solid surface countertops and work surfaces. It contains roughly 30% recycled post-industrial waste, and is itself 100% recyclable. Durat is extremely durable and resistant to many common chemicals; any surface scuffs can be removed with an light sanding, and the material can be cut and shaped with standard woodworking tools.
Durat is available in dozens of colors, and granulated particles in the material provide its distinctive appearance and texture. The material is available in sheets for surfaces like countertops (standard size is 2900x800x12mm); Durat also produces fixtures like sinks and bathtubs, and fabricates custom fixtures as well.
As some homeowners seek options beyond traditional granite surfaces, recycled solid surface countertops can offer distinctive aesthetic options. They can be more economical, and more flexible to work with as well. Many are easier to shape and fabricate, as well as being more durable.
