Many homeowners want to purify their tap water, either because of its taste or due to concerns about water pollution. But bottled water is extremely expensive, and also wastes a huge amount of energy through transportation and packaging. A quality water filter like the Multipure is one of the most effective and efficient ways to treat water at home.
The most effective home water filters are under-sink models, which can remove more pollutants than purifying pitchers or faucet-mounted designs. There are several good options available, but our favorite is the Multipure MP750SB.
The Multipure was rated best in Consumer Reports listing of under-sink filters, and for good reason. It’s NSF-certified (many filters do not receive this industry-standard certification) and filters a broad spectrum of contaminants including organic compounds like pesticides and pharmaceuticals, cysts, toxic heavy metals including lead and mercury, and additives like chlorine to name just a few.
The convenient design consists of the stainless steel filter unit and a dedicated faucet (included). The filter unit can be wall-mounted inside a cabinet if desired, and can even be connected to an icemaker. The filter unit is warrantied for life, and replacement filter cartridges cost about $70.
The Multipure is economical too. A single $70 filter processes 750 gallons of water – enough capacity to last a year in most households. That’s far cheaper than bottled water, or less-effective pitcher filters.
