Avian board is an innovative building material that provides the look and strength of traditional panel boards – but at a tiny fraction of the weight, and using minimal raw materials in its manufacture.
Avian board can be used in wall panels as well as furniture and cabinetry applications; special connecting hardware is available to create modular designs. Its strength and light weight come from an internal honeycomb structure sandwiched between thin, rigid panels.
The inner honeycomb is comprised of 100% recycled cardboard, while the outer decking is is available in MDF or particle board (both sourced from FSC managed forests). Panels are available with 3mm, 4mm, or 8mm decking, either finished or unfinished. And they are produced in sizes up to 18′ x 14′, which would be impossibly heavy in a traditional particle board panel.
Avian board uses just half the wood of comparably sized particle board panels, and scores excellent marks on air quality tests for VOCs like formaldehyde thanks to water-based glues. Transportation, labor, and assembly costs are reduced since Avian Board is so easy to work with, and its light weight means less fuel consumption during shipping.
